AI Legal Research in India: A 30-Minute Method Without Hallucinated Cases

Most “AI legal research” advice is “ask for cases”. That is how fake compilations are born. The court-safe order is the opposite: freeze the legal framework, then hunt authorities, then open them.
Stage 1 — framework only (12 minutes)
Prompt: “Do not name cases. List the governing statute (BNS/BNSS/BSA or civil equivalent), the tests a court usually asks, and 8 search terms I can run on Indian Kanoon.” You walk out with a spine, not a hallucination.
Stage 2 — candidates with receipts (10 minutes)
Now you may ask for 4–6 candidate authorities. Each must carry: full name, court, year, paragraph, a short quote, and a confidence tag (high / medium / unverified). Reject anything without a paragraph.
Stage 3 — you open two (8 minutes)
Two live authorities beat ten decorative ones. Put the rest under [TO BE VERIFIED]. A memo with a visible gap is professional. A memo with a confident fake is fatal.
